We believe that God’s desire is for personal and open communication. We also believe that like any good father, He desires to bless us. That blessing often comes through answered prayer.

High Tech Ministries(HTM) is committed to prayer as a core component of our mission. This is why the Intercessory Prayer Team (iTeam) is such a critical part of who we are. We have seen God bless High Tech Ministries with vision, direction and resources as we faithfully submit ourselves to prayer. The iTeam actively prays for our ministry, its community and sponsors, and for specific member prayer requests.

As the 20th Annual High Tech Prayer Breakfast approaches, our focus on aligning ourselves to God’s will through prayer intensifies. Join us in any of the events outlined below or simply commit to pray daily that God will work mightily through High Tech Ministries during this season.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
~ Philippians 4:6–7

Daniel Fast Q&A

What is fasting?

Fasting is going without food to pursue and/or focus on something more important. The Daniel Fast is a refusal of comfort for the flesh/soul apart from the life of God, a refusal to participate in the ongoing culture to set apart one’s self for God’s purposes, and an active seeking of God through repentance for one’s sin and participation in the former matters.

Why should we fast?

  1. To honor God through worship and prayer – Matthew 6:16-18, Luke 2:36-37, Acts 13:2-3, Matthew 5:6, Zechariah 7:5, Isaiah 58:2
  2. To increase the effectiveness of prayer – Ezra 8:23, Isaiah 58:9, Judges 20
To teach us humility and increase our dependence upon God – 2 Chronicles 7:14-15, Psalms 35:13, Psalm 69:10
  3. To hasten physical healing – 1 Cor. 11:30, James 5:13-18, Isaiah 58:8, Isaiah 59:1-2
  4. To seek deliverance from bondage – Matthew 17:20, Isaiah 58:6-9, Esther 4:16
  5. To receive Revelation – God’s Vision, Will and Guidance – Daniel 10:1 -3, Jeremiah 29:13, Acts 13:3, Acts 14:23
  6. To bring revival and rededicate one self to the Lord – personal and corporate – Acts 1:4, Joel 2:12-18
  7. To express repentance for sin – Psalm 51, Jeremiah 29:11-14, James 4:8-10, Acts 9:9, Jonah 3:5-8, I Samuel 7:6
  8. To intercede in prayer for others – Isaiah 58:6, Daniel 9:1-21, Matthew 17:20, Mark 9:28-29
  9. To train our bodies to yield to our spirits – 1 Corinthians 9:27
  10. To devote time to witnessing and soul winning – John 4:4-34
  11. To care deeply for the work of God – Nehemiah 1:1-4

What should I pray for myself, for High Tech Ministries, and for the guests that I’ve invited to the High Tech Prayer Breakfast?

We can start by praying scripture. The Bible reveals God and His perfect will to us.

An example might be to pray Jeremiah 29:11-13 that says, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.”

You might pray, “Father, I thank you that you have plans to prosper me and not to harm me and plans for a hope and a future. I have felt that hope from knowing you and now I desire for those you lay on my heart to invite to the Prayer Breakfast to have this same bright hope. Help me to call upon you and pray in a way that is pleasing so that you will listen to me. Help me to seek you with all of my heart. Help me to remember your prayer that taught us “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” I want more of you in my life so that I can be fully surrendered to your Will and not my own.”

Be intentional about praying. Set aside time and a particular place to come into the presence of the Lord. Pray to an audience of one. Sometimes it is easier to mediate or read scripture before you start to pray so that your mind is free of earthly concerns.

For a person that God is telling you to invite to the High Tech Prayer Breakfast, you may consider praying the beatitudes: Heavenly Father, grant that Joe would glimpse his poverty of spirit. Let him mourn for his sins and not be unconcerned for his own soul. Work meekness into his heart. Grant him a hunger and thirst for righteousness. Plant the seeds in his heart to be a peacemaker. Make him pure and keep him pure. And if it is your will for Joe to be persecuted, give him the grace to count it all joy and remind him that great is his reward in heaven. Praying like this has a powerful effect because you are praying God’s Word that is “alive and active and sharper than a double-edged sword.”

What is the Biblical context for the 10-Day Daniel Fast (Daniel 1:8-20)?

But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel, but the official told Daniel, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.” Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.

At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom.

What is the Biblical context for the 21-Day Daniel Fast and why does HTM follow this model (Daniel 10:2-3)?

In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

The Daniel Fast has been popularized in the Christian community for a number of obvious reasons. Beyond the fact it provides a biblical pattern for fasting, it also represents a fast that brought the will of God (a promise to the people of Israel) into motion and resulted in an angelic encounter and revelation.

It is important to understand the qualities of a Daniel Fast if a community or individual is going to participate in one. The most obvious components of the Daniel Fast, i.e., the avoidance of meat, grain, and wine and the twenty-one day duration, is the least important aspect upon which one should focus. First, the twenty-one day duration is not prescriptive, but descriptive. The answer that Daniel was seeking came after twenty-one days, but would have come earlier if Gabriel had not been opposed by the Prince of Persia(an obvious reference to a demonic principality over that region). By application, a Daniel Fast concludes when the answer one is seeking for arrives. It may be less than twenty-one days or it may take longer than twenty-one days. It would seem that a longer duration, by what is implied, would depend upon the enormity or level of influence (or impact) the answer entails. Certainly, the opposition of a principality over the Jews, which directly opposed the sovereignty and prophetic will of God, not to mention the national welfare of an entire people, incurred a conflict of angelic proportions. In short, the purpose of the fast becomes more important than the duration of the fast. Second, the avoidance of meat, wine, and grain products has more to do with the rejection of the culture in which one finds oneself.
